Mets' Opening Day is Just Around the Corner
As Spring Training comes to a close and the regular season approaches, the Mets are gearing up for Opening Day in Houston. This matchup presents an opportunity to solidify their game plan, and after closely observing and analyzing the team over the past few days, there’s plenty to discuss. Manager Mendoza and his staff have significant decisions to make as they prepare for the challenges ahead. After carefully analyzing my observations, I’m going to break down which players should stay, which should go, and what I believe the ideal lineup should look like.
SS - Francisco Lindor
By 2025, Lindor could solidify himself as a dynamic leadoff hitter with his combination of power, speed, and switch-hitting ability.
RF - Juan Soto
Adding Juan Soto to the Mets lineup would instantly transform it into one of the most feared in baseball, as his elite on-base skills, power, and clutch hitting would provide a perfect complement to Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor, creating a nightmare for opposing pitchers.
1B - Pete Alonso
"The Polar Bear" continues to anchor the middle of the order as one of the most feared power hitters in baseball.
DH -Sterling Marte / Jesse Winker (or a high-profile FA/trade acquisition)
The Mets have proven their DH bat to protect Alonso and provide consistent run production.
3B - Mark Vientos
By 2025, Vientos should be fully established as the everyday third baseman, offering a strong left-handed bat with power potential.
CF - Jose Siri
The Mets' have one of the best outfield defensive player, Should be taken over center field, bringing a mix of defense, speed, and offensive upside.
C - Luis Torrens
Torrens power has showing improving defense make him a key piece of the lineup, potentially moving up in the order as he matures.
LF - Brandon Nimmo
Brandon Nimmo has proven himself to be one of the Mets' best players, showcasing his versatility across the entire outfield, though his foot remains a concern, making left field the ideal position for him if the issue persists by Opening Day.
2B- Brett Baty
Brett Baty has demonstrated his power potential and is adjusting impressively to second base, where he looks more comfortable than at third, making him a solid option to hold down the position until Jeff McNeil returns to the Mets lineup.
